Stretton on Dunsmore Fete (6th July 2013)

There was plenty of fun for all the family at the annual village fete in Stretton-on-Dunsmore.

It was the first time in years that the organisers didn’t have to worry about the weather as the sun shone throughout the day on Saturday.

The fete was held in the centre of Stretton-on-Dunsmore around the brook.

The afternoon of entertainment included music from Bilton Silver Band, dancing, a fun dog show and an egg throwing competition.

There was a bouncy castle for toddlers, sumo wrestling suits, traditional cream teas in the garden of Brook House, hog roast, drinks and cakes in the village hall.

Stalls, games, tombola, plants, crafts, jewellery and lots more also filled the village centre, while youngsters ran around taking part in the treasure hunt.

Michelle Shaw, one of the organising committee, said: “The fete went really well. The weather was brilliant. It was the first time in years that we didn’t need to worry about whether it was going to rain or not.

“It was very busy. I think we had more people than usual, which was great.

“We raised around £2,000 which will go towards the upkeep of the village hall,”
